Compassion is a little understood concept. It is often mixed up with sympathy and empathy. Compassion is having understanding for someone's plight or challenge without engaging in their hurt. You hold space for the person without judgement or providing a solution, you are simply there for them. Compassion can be extended to someone you don't get along with, someone you love, someone you find to just be a horrible person, etc. You have the propensity for compassion for anyone. You have compassion for the human side of the person having their challenging experience.
